Frank Rosiak – Biography For Da Groovestation

The first time I got my hands on a guitar – a steel string acoustic - I was 14 years old.  It was my brother’s.  I spent most of my spare time playing with it – at first just making strange plinky plonk noises or standing in front of the mirror posing to look just like Marc Bolan (T. Rex).  Once we bought a book of guitar chords, which was just full of the standard chord diagrams, things started to progress but slowly.

When my brother got married, at an early age, his guitar went with him. By this time I was working so I bought myself a very simple steel string acoustic and this was my own first instrument.

I became aware of the classical guitarist John Williams and became an avid fan.  So, as a young adult I bought a classical guitar, found an excellent classical guitar (and jazz) teacher and spent many years having private lessons with him.

I decided to take some graded exams and successfully completed the Trinity Grade 5, Grade 8 and the Performer’s Certificate.

While studying classical guitar I then became very interested in Indian classical music, particularly the Sitar.  I heard about the Bhavan (The Home of Indian Arts - usually referred to as The Bhavan) so I went along and signed up for their sitar course.  I spent many years with my guru and successfully completed the diploma and higher diploma.  I still have and play my instrument.

Somewhere along the way, many years ago, I bought an 8-course Renaissance Lute and a recommended learning book.  It was an indulgence but worth it.  I still play it.

I have worked, recorded and performed with other bands ranging from a rock covers band to an original indie band and an original/covers acoustic group.

Da Groovestation

I came into contact with Da Groovestation when I joined the Band Mix web site.  I hooked up with Biggz and Marley when they messaged me and we have had many great years of working together, recording and gigging.  We have played various gigs, mainly within and around our local community with and for the people.  However, we have played other venues as well, for example, the O2 Academy Islington.

Da Groovestation is about more than just the music although that is very important.  It is also about our world we live in, how we live our lives, how we treat and respect other people and get a clearer perspective of life.

Hopefully this will all continue until my hands and fingers no longer work.

Peace and Blessings.
